Uttlesford supported the response to the Lebanese Evacuation, in which 64 families were temporarily housed at Essex University. The response included Essex Police, Essex County Council, Uttlesford District Council, Colhester Borough Council, the British Red Cross and the Crisis Support Team for Essex.
A Korean Air 747 cargo aircraft crashed into Hatfield Forest shortly after taking off from Stansted Airport killing 4 crew members. Although there were no casualties on the ground the event was traumatic for those that witnessed it and were effected by it.
