Snow fall trapped over 200 cars on Cumberline Way for over 6 hours. Police, Essex Highways & Rover Rescue were deployed and a rest centre was opened to support those individuals that were had to leave their cars.
A fire at a car paint workshop, which stored gas cylinders lead to the evacuation of the surrounding area which included special needs care home. A Rest Centre was opened to support 32 care residents and 9 care support staff for a total 32 hours.
Colchester supported the response to the Lebanese Evacuation, in which 64 families were temporarily housed at Essex University. The response included Essex Police, Essex County Council, Uttlesford District Council, Colhester Borough Council, the British Red Cross and the Crisis Support Team for Essex.
